
Victoria Johnson Honored by the Global Directory of Who’s Who for Her Trailblazing Leadership and Advocacy

Portsmouth, RI – Victoria Johnson, a distinguished community leader and educator, has been recognized by the Global Directory of Who’s Who for her exceptional dedication to civil rights, education, and community advocacy. As a key figure in the Newport Middle Passage Port Marker Project, Mrs. Johnson plays a vital role in commemorating African Americans who endured the Middle Passage and arrived in the United States through the State of Rhode Island. Her unwavering efforts help preserve the memory of these individuals and promote historical awareness within the community.
Mrs. Johnson holds a Master’s degree in Administration and Education from Florida Atlantic University and a Bachelor of Science in Health and Physical Education, from University of Bridgeport, Arnold College. She broke barriers as the first African American female principal of a high school in the state of Rhode Island, and as the first Black cheerleader at Rogers High School in Newport. A former Florida Coach of the Year for Girls Basketball, she remains deeply involved with organizations such as the NAACP, Brown University Health/ Newport Hospital, and with the RI Foundation as a partner for Philanthropy in the RI Community. A dedicated church volunteer, her lifelong commitment to education, athletics, and cultural remembrance continues to inspire future generations.
